For the Pastry
- 1 package Puff Pastry Use Pepperidge Farm for best results.
- 1 spray Canola Oil Spray Prevents sticking to pie tins.
For the Filling
- 30 oz Irish Stew Drain excess liquid.
- ¼ teaspoon Garlic Powder Enhances flavor.
- ½ teaspoon Salt Maldon preferred.
- ½ teaspoon Pepper Adjust to preference.
For the Egg Wash
- 1 large Egg Beaten with 2 teaspoon water.
For the Garnish
- 3 tablespoon Black Sesame Seeds Can be swapped with poppy seeds.
Preparation
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
Drain the Irish stew through a fine-mesh strainer to remove excess liquid.
Whisk together the egg with water and mix salt, pepper, and garlic powder in another bowl.
Lightly spray pie tins with canola oil. Let puff pastry soften at room temperature.
Cut puff pastry into circles for bases and lids, placing the base circles into the tins.
Fill each tin halfway with the drained stew and brush pastry edges with egg wash to seal.
Place pastry lids on top of filled tins and crimp edges securely with a fork.
Brush tops with egg wash, sprinkle black sesame seeds, and cut slits for steam to escape.
Bake for about 40 minutes, or until pastry is puffed and golden brown.
