Ingredients
  

Taco Filling

  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil or olive oil
  • 1 small onion diced, optional
  • 1 piece jalapeño pepper finely minced, optional
  • 1.5 pounds lean ground beef
  • 1 packet taco seasoning or 3 tablespoons homemade
  • 1 cup water or beef broth

Taco Assembly

  • 12 pieces taco shells
  • 3 cups shredded cheese Mexican blend or cheddar cheese
  • taco toppings

Instructions
 

Cooking Instructions

  • Sauté onions and jalapeños in oil over medium heat until slightly soft.
  • Add ground beef, and cook until no longer pink; drain grease if needed.
  • Add taco seasoning and water; stir, and simmer until most of the liquid is absorbed. Remove from heat.
  • Preheat oven to 375°. Place taco shells next to each other in a 13 x 9 baking dish or foil baking pan.
  • Fill shells with a little shredded cheese, then cooked ground beef mixture.
  • Top with more shredded cheese.
  • Bake for about 10 minutes or until cheese is melted and shells are lightly browned.

Notes

Onion and jalapenos are optional but add extra flavor. You can leave them out for a less spicier version.
