  • pot
  • grill or oven

Ingredients

Steak and Potatoes

  • 1.5 pounds steak sirloin preferred cut
  • 1 pound baby potatoes cut into ½ inch pieces
  • 1 onion peeled, halved and thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tablespoon minced garlic or more to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • salt to taste
  • pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter cubed

Instructions

Preparation

  • Place the sliced potatoes in a pot of boiling, salted water and cook for 5 minutes. Drain immediately and let cool for about 10 minutes.

Foil Packet Assembly

  • Cut the steak into pieces of desired size and marinate if preferred.
  • In a large bowl, combine steak, potatoes, onion, olive oil, parsley, garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Toss well.
  • Set out 4 pieces of aluminum foil at least 12x12 inches. Evenly divide the steak and potato mixture between the middles of the foil. Top with butter cubes and fold to seal.

Cooking

  • On a hot grill, cook the foil packets for 8-10 minutes per side, until potatoes are tender.
  • If using an oven, bake at 425°F for around 20 minutes, checking doneness after about 15 minutes.
  • Caution: Hot steam will escape when opening packets.

Notes

Pre-boiling potatoes is highly recommended to ensure even cooking. This recipe is ideal for quick family dinners or camping meals. Adjust garlic to taste for stronger flavor.
